The Texas Capitol Area Builders Association proudly presents the 40th Annual 1997 Parade of Homes
This single story Texas Traditional home, designed by architect Chuck Krueger and built by Wilde Custom Homes, recalls images from early Texas settlers' stone ranch houses. Composed of 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 living areas and 2 dining areas, the Y-shaped structure opens to the southeast. This orientation channels wind creating a natural breezeway across the expansive redwood deck, which overlooks a natural preserve.
Outside, natural Texas limestone walls are teamed with stucco walls to form an attractive yet durable barrier against the elements, both blending nicely with the surrounding landscape. The use of scored concrete floors, interior stone walls and numerous other energy-saving features give this home a high Green Builder rating. The metal roof is coated with a special electromagnetic paint, deep green in color to emphasize the house's organic appeal. All windows are Kolbe & Kolbe double-pained, aluminum-clad wood windows.
Designed and furnished by Durham Trading & Design Co., the interior is rife with natural finishes. Walls of troweled Texas plaster mimic the stucco of the exterior. Pine header beams can be found throughout the house and open wood trusses span both vaulted living areas. Shaped by seven different types of stone, the classic Texas-style fireplace serves as a focal point for the main living area. Other interior features include white oak kitchen cabinets, an octagonal study with raised red oak paneling, cherrywood floors and a celestial ceiling. Operable skylights bring natural light into interior spaces while innovative lighting provides subtle accents where you wouldn't expect. For the electronics enthusiast, the entire house is wired with Cad-5 Ethernet wire for computer networks, fiber-optic wire for high speed Internet connections and hi fidelity systems.
